Dirty dozen clean up starts
Released: 10 Sep 2008

The dirty dozen mission to clean up Adur and Worthing’s streets starts next week as part of the Big tidy up national campaign.
Adur and Worthing Council Services invited people to nominate streets they thought could do with some deep clean action. 86 nominations were received - 64 for Worthing and 22 for Adur.
The first clean ups will start in Worthing next week:
- Grand Avenue and The Drive - 15 September
- Lanfranc Road - 19 September
- Bedford Row - 22 September
The clean up task force will use all their might and go all out to clean pavements, gutters and roads.
Other roads on the hit list so far are:
- Nicholson Drive in Shoreham,
- Limbrick Lane and Ham Road in Worthing.
Clean up dates for these will be announced soon, along with other streets selected for the ‘dirty dozen’. Inspections are continuing to name the remaining roads. The councils will also extend the project to other streets and these will be cleaned later this year.
Residents who park their cars on these streets will need to move them to allow for a thorough clean into the gutters and roads. Signs will be put in place to advise people to move their cars for about four hours from 8.30am.
Two beaches in Worthing are getting the clean up treatment on the 21 September near the Yacht Club and on the 28 September at the Ferring end of the Goring Beach.
