Once sorted your garden waste must be put out on the front boundary of your property close to the pavement in a clearly visible location (or in your bin store if that's where it's normally collected from) ready for collection by 6:30am on the morning of your collection day, please avoid blocking paths or other public areas - if you do not know your collection day, please see When is my bin day?
Please be careful how you dispose of any broken glass and sharp objects (which should not be in your garden waste!)
Please ensure that all items you put out for collection are put out neatly and will not be easily blown around or spread about by animals and birds.
Not all items can be taken by the garden waste service, please see A to Z of Garden Waste for what we can accept.
All garden waste collected in Adur and Worthing is taken to Olus, a recycling company, based just outside Henfield, West Sussex. Olus have collecting and recycling green waste into compost since 1994. They work with County and District councils recycling approximately 30,000 tonnes of green waste per year, turning garden prunings into high quality compost that carries Soil Association and British Standard PAS100 accreditation.
Olus are committed to delivering sustainable solutions to the recycling industry, ensuring they meet quality management standards to produce premium recycled products for retail end markets.
Their products are sold and distributed through their landscaping supplies company and can also be purchased through their website www.olus.co.uk or 01273 492752. Bags of compost produced by Olus can also be purchased at household waste recycling sites locally in Worthing, Littlehampton and Shoreham-by-Sea. Ask site staff for details.
