Elderly and infirm residents may request an assisted collection for their domestic waste if they find it unmanageable. Assisted collections are normally only available where no able-bodied person lives at the address who could reasonably be expected to get the bins to the designated collection points.
Assisted collections are dealt with on a case by case basis and will normally require a visit from a council officer who will assess the individual's need and the practicalities of collecting the bins from a designated point. Agreement will be reached based on these criteria during the visit.
As and when circumstances change, householders should contact the office to change or cancel the agreement. In some cases, assisted collections can be offered for temporary periods to deal with a short-term problem.
